Happy Halloween!

BOO!! Greetings from Scooby Doo and the Gang! Colin was so excited about Halloween this year and since he is totally addicted to Scooby Doo it was not surprising that he chose Scooby as his costume. Then Colin chose everyone elses costumes - Jack Henry as Scrappy Doo, Burt as Shaggy and me as Velma (or as Colin says Belma - with a VERY southern accent). We got a chance to try out our costumes at Uncle Andy and Aunt Terri's Halloween party last weekend. Finally, we were able to set out trick-or-treating on Halloween night. Our friends Kristie and Carl came to visit us for the weekend so Colin had an extra fun time walking around the neighborhood with them. Burt and I were surprised that hardly anyone said anything about us being dressed up too. Colin's pumpkin was so full of candy that it was too heavy to carry home so he talked Kristie into helping him carry it - don't worry Kristie, we won't tell anyone the real reason you wanted to carry the pumpkin - we all love candy!

Of course Halloween just wouldn't be right without carving a pumpkin. Nona and Bop brought us this giant pumpkin and Burt carved it just right - Colin would have no part in cleaning out the pumpkin.

The Perfect Pumpkin
After our evening of trick-or-treating in the neighborhood, we headed over to Mr. Bill and Mrs. Becky's house. They always decorate just for Colin (and now Jack Henry) and they stay up to see us even though every year it is always really late before we get there. This year they really surprised Colin. They dressed up too! When Bill opened the door, Colin stepped back and grabbed me - he wasn't sure it was Bill. Finally, Bill took off the mask and Colin gave him a big hug. Next year they are coming over to our house to give out candy while we trick-or-treat...we can't wait!

Like I said before, we went to a fantastic Halloween party at Uncle Andy and Aunt Terri's house. Colin got to roast marshmallows, go on a hayride and play with lots and lots of other children. He had a blast! Here are a few pics from the party.

While we were in Patrick for the party, we decided to try our wigs out on the boys. This is a riot!

Jack Henry looks just like one of those troll dolls!

Colin makes an interesting Velma but I am the best!

Finally...an update!

So, finally I post again. I have heard from so many people asking exactly when I planned to ever put any new pics on here...okay...it is done. My boys are the 2 sweetest things in the world. Colin will turn 3 in January and Jack Henry is almost 8 months. Where does the time go??? I can't remember life without them. Enjoy all the new pics!

Jack Henry loves to swing in the backyard.

Colin had so much fun at Mia's birthday party. Mia is his best friend for sure!

Sometimes when Colin needs a little more attention he will become a baby again.

The next few pics are from our family trip to Atlanta. Burt had a class there for a few days so I took some time off and we all tagged along. We were so glad we did...
We visited the Georgia Aquarium - if you've never been then GO. It was awesome. But plan to spend an entire day...there is so much to do. It makes our aquarium look like a closet.

Jack Henry was mesmorized by the fish tanks.

Colin poses with Deepo, the mascot of the Georgia Aquarium!

Colin and Mommy pose with all the little fishies.

Jack Henry and Colin stop for a rest together.

We saw a 4D move all about keeping the ocean clean to save all the sea animals.

Then we were off to the Coca Cola Museum even though we know Uncle Andy would be mad (his employer is PEPSI). I hadn't visited this since it moved. It used to be at Underground Atlanta, but is now in a beautiful big new building right beside the aquarium.

Colin LOVED the end where you could taste all kinds of Coca Cola produced drinks from all over the world. He just ran around with his cup. At one point he even let a strange man fill the cup up. We have to work on the whole stranger thing, I guess...so, this picture is the beginning of the fun with tasting lots of sugary drinks...

As you can see, this is the end of drinking all those sugary drinks...a full on crash and burn. Just before this deep sleep, Colin cried and cried saying, "I want to go back to our hotel!" He wa so sad to see the fun end.

Our Buckhead Atlanta hotel was marvelous. Colin especially enjoyed the telephone that was strategically placed on the wall beside the potty. Jack Henry became very familiar with the floor in the room as he rolled all around.

The last night, we finally took Colin for a night swim. Burt joined him while Jack Henry and I looked on from the sidelines. Colin is still talking about swimming there.

Fun with Friends!

We've had lots of fun lately...My friend English came to visit us last week. We were sad that her little boy, Will, couldn't come but we were so glad we got to spend some time with her. Colin was especially enamored with her.

Then the very same week we had our friends Melissa and Jack and their little girl Valerie over for dinner. Sadly, I must admit that we used to get together with them freqently before children. The last time we got together none of us had kids so that means it has been at least 3 years. How time flies and oh how our lives have changed...Valerie and Colin had a blast together. We have vowed to get together again very soon - definitely

Hugs!!

The fun is written all over their faces!

Father's Day 2008

Hello Everyone! This is a quick post from "Daddy Burt." Father's Day 2008 was awesome; my boys are the best. We enjoyed church on Sunday morning, then a nice relaxing afternoon (i. e. nap time). These are two snapshots we took before church. By the way, Colin thinks looking at the camera and/or smiling is overrated.

Jack Henry is very comfortable in his swing.

Colin shows off his latest trick.

And finally, another guessing game. I love pictures like this where I am reminded how much my boys look alike. Leslie says they get their "blank" look from me. Here are both of the boys around 3 1/2 months. You decide which is which.

Where did April and May go?

POTTY TRAINING STINKS...literally!!!!!!!!!

We are working really hard on potty training - doesn't this picture say it all?

Colin still loves every minute with Jack Henry. During this photo session, Colin got tired of posing and just pushed Jack Henry over face down on the couch. I started to fuss and rolled Jack Henry over to pick him up, only to find him practically laughing - it is like he knows Colin is his brother and that everything is just for fun!

LOOK-ALIKES or NOT???

Just sitting around before church one Sunday morning...

We finally ventured out for Jack Henry's first trip to the beach. Of course it was also OUR first venture to the beach with 2 boys...
Oh how different we are with the second child - Jack Henry loved it but ended up with sand all over his face, hands and eyes...mostly because Colin kept throwing sand on everyone. On Colin's first trip to the beach we kept checking to make sure sand touched NOTHING except his feet. What a difference experience makes!

What a sweet sleeping baby!!!!

Last weekend Colin went to Cayden's (a friend from church) 2nd birthday party. It was a water party with sprinklers, a baby pool, waterguns and beach balls. He had a blast!

Jack Henry slept through the party! Colin's loves Trent, another friend from church. He was at the party too and held Colin during present time!

Uncle Alvin and Aunt Mary came to visit us one night - it was a surprise and we were so happy!

We spent a lot of the month of April and May in Chesterfield because my grandma, Ma Ma Brock, was very sick with cancer. We were very sad to lose her in May. If you can find something happy in this sad time, it was having the opportunity for Colin and Jack Henry to spend lots of time with family they don't get to see so much!
Colin's Great-Aunt Rachel always gives Colin whatever he wants, including cupcakes. She is continuing this "giving" tradition from my childhood. Rachel ALWAYS gave me anything I asked for!

Colin can never get enough of his time at Gramma and Pa's - we were there for a weekend recently...Colin's famous line is, "I need to go see the goats!".

Jack Henry is growing so quickly - it is amazing how much he changes from day to day.
Here he is with a big grin and also with Blue - Colin's favorite teddy bear.

We were so happy that during May Devon was FINALLY able to spend a whole entire weekend with us here in Myrtle Beach. Bop (my dad) gave the boys money to spend at Build-a-Bear. Devon decided to build a tiger so guess what his little cousin, Colin, decided to build? You guessed it...a tiger just like his. Devon was such a great big cousin - he helped Colin all the way through the whole process. It was a lot of fun.

Also during this weekend a friend of mine called and asked if we wanted free passes to the new Hard Rock Theme Park (her daughter works for the company). Of course we said yes and we all had a wonderful time. Devon and Burt rode a couple of roller coasters and lots of rides. Colin's favorite ride was the choo-choo train. All three boys (this includes Burt) really loved this place where you could shoot soft balls at each other. Jack Henry and I mostly watched from the sidelines. We stayed until the park held its nightly closing fireworks which were awesome! We finally made it home around midnight after a very late dinner at Chili's. It was a great weekend.

The boys were exhausted by Sunday afternoon. We went to church and then it was off to Georgetown to get Devon home. We sure do wish we could see him every single day!

In April Burt's Aunt Betty Jean, Uncle Bill, their grandson, Hunter and Burt's cousin, Jodi came to visit Granny's in Patrick. It was the first time they had ever met Colin or Jack Henry. We had a great time with them.
